8 years of working with Germans, Americans, Canadians and Bulgarians has taught me one thing… Get their name right and spell it correctly in written communication…

I can remember times when I have been irked because the email or chat writer has mis-spelled my name. Innumerable times my name has been mispronounced but that doesn’t irritate me so much as I can blame it to the cultural differences of the different countries although it definitely pleases me if a person from a totally different land pronounces my name correctly, I like the person instantly and things start on a positive note.

But, when I get a mail in which my name has been mis-spelled things definitely start on the wrong foot as being able to read and write English is the basic premise of all the communications between us, the creatures from different lands.

When we are typing something we have our sub-conscious instinct of spelling the words we haven’t used frequently before, for example the first time I spelled “Jessica” it came out as “Jesicca” and unfortunately it was in a chat and I had to spend the next two lines apologizing to Jessica.

I remember once when I typed “Hi Hack” instead of “Hi Jack” in a chat, but that was laughed away as a typo mistake; do not think “Hi Jach” would have fared so well..

Getting the names right is an important prerequisite for working in the Global world as it can contribute to that essential right/wrong foot that will take the discussion further. In fact in India, nowadays parents are giving special thought to the names of the baby so that it is easy to pronounce and read for the citizens of earth.
